Does anyone know how many pounds of drag the 6600 CB has? If not where can I find out? I have checked Abu website with no luck.
Thanks |

About 5 lbs with the 20907 drags, the carbon matrix drags in the newer round reels provide about 13.5 lbs and the top end low profile and "winch"
reels claim to have 24lbs of drag.
An older Abu locked down will pull about 7 lbs of drag but you're mashing down the washers and they will nevr be the same. Keep it clean, keep it tuned and store it loose. Smooothie drags @$$@ great on the Abus and aren't as jerky as the 20907s. Smoothies are the in between for the 20907s and Carbon Matrix drag washers.

yes, if yo have the regular old 20907s you can upgrade to smoothies or carbon matrix. Some have even gone as far as grinding down Penn HT-100s to get a better
drag. However, too much drag is not necessary. You can bring in a good sized fish with 1 or 2 lbs of drag. 5 lbs is good for a large red.
A set of Carbontex is $9.00 http://www.smoothdrag.com/price.html Also, Abu started using the carbon drag washers in late 2006. If your reel has the newer hourglass type spool design you have the Abu Carbon Matrix Drags. Your choices from weakest to best for an upgrade is as follows.... 20907s stock washers...Smoothies...Extreme Smoothies...Smoothie Carbontex...Abu Carbon matrix You can also do mods by grinding down Penn HT 100s but that was done before the carbon drags came out and is too involved for most. You can also add Cals grease in certain configurations.

Rudy, I just bought this reel from Cabelas last week. The paper ##*@ that comes with the reel shows the 20907 drag washers. Is it hard to change out the
drag washers? If I buy the carbon matrix drags washers will it comes with instructions?
Thanks |

Its a little involved but not too hard. They don't come with instructions, they just come in a plastic bag with a cardboard product ID. Fortunately, Alan
Tani has done a nice write up with pics on how to do this on his website http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=67.0
I have done dozens of these reels and they aren't that hard.
